More about this activity

Built in 1878 as a hospital to treat the sick who worked in the steel plant owned by Léon Metz – and subsequently bought by steel magnates ARBED (now Arcelor Mittal), then sold again, this time to the state – Bridderhaus has been run by members of religious orders until 1981. This atmospheric building then lay abandoned for a number of years before proposals for its transformation into an art centre were put forward by the team behind Esch2022 European Capital of Culture. From June 2022 the sensitively restored building – which features also a brand-new annex – is ready to welcome you with a great programme of artists’ residencies, exhibitions, makers spaces, and workshop areas. If you are in Esch, check out the programme to see what’s on!
