Animal Park
Trees, Animals, Magic!
Just a short stroll over the elegant white Passerelle bridge from the railway station, the city fades into the lush Gaalgebierg urban forest. At its heart lies the Escher Déierepark, a five-acre haven where deer, goats, rabbits, and over 25 other species live in harmony.
Entry is free all year, but for an up-close experience, join a guided tour or visit the Petting Zoo on Tuesdays, 2–4 pm. To explore the rich heritage of ancient animal breeds the educational farm offers fascinating insights.
When it’s time for a break, head to the Escher Bamhauscafé, where local and organic treats await. Perched high in the trees, the café shares its magic with three other enchanting treehouses. Each one is exquisitely decorated and brimming with character, their names inspired by fictional residents who have styled them to reflect their own imaginary tastes and lives.
Here, nature, imagination, and animal companionship come together in a place that feels both peaceful and full of wonder.
