Arriving in Esch

By Train

The easiest and most affordable way to travel to Esch is by train. Esch has two railway stations: Esch-sur-Alzette Gare in the center and  Belval-Université.

By Car

Esch is connected to three important motorways, the A4 (direction Luxembourg City), the A13 (direction Pétange and Saarland/Germany) and the A30 (direction France).

By Air

Luxembourg’s airport, Findel, is 27 km away from Esch. By car, it takes less than 30 minutes to reach it, and approximately one hour by public transport.

Getting around in Esch

Parking

There are more than 13,500 parking spots available in the public car parks of the city (of which 1,910 are P&R spots and 1,600 are within the 4 indoor ones in the city center). Intelligent guiding systems as well as an online service allow drivers to check availability in real time.

By Bus

A very good network of city buses connects the city center to the outlier districts and the adjacent municipalities.

By Bike

Esch offers free Vël’OK service available 24/7. There are 170 electronic bikes at your disposal at 24 stations across the city. Esch is a city focused on low impact mobility and that’s why there are numerous cycle paths for you to use.

On Foot

Esch has in place a system of safe walking for pedestrians, with an excellent way-finding system which includes 72 signs indicating directions, and walking duration to the main points of interest.
