Celebrating Italian Cinema Across Borders
The Italian Film Festival is back, bringing the magic of Italian cinema to Esch-sur-Alzette, Villerupt (France), and other towns along the Luxembourg–France border. Now in its 48th edition, the festival attracts over 40,000 visitors each year and celebrates the rich cultural contributions of the Italian community, deeply rooted in the history of Italian immigration to the Lorraine and Luxembourg regions.
This year’s festival will feature a tribute to legendary filmmaker Marco Bellocchio, whose politically engaged and psychologically complex films continue to shape international cinema. The festival will also honour Andrea Segre with the prestigious Amilcar Prize — the festival’s distinguished award, named after Italian-Lorraine sculptor Amilcar Zannoni, who designed the trophy. This year, the prize will be awarded to Segre in recognition of his remarkable career. The award ceremony will take place on November 7.
Running from October 24 to November 11, 2025, the festival offers screenings in multiple locations, presented in their original language with French subtitles, ensuring an authentic cinematic experience for all attendees.
The Kulturfabrik (KuFa) cultural centre in Esch serves as an official partner venue, hosting key screenings and events.
