If you are a sports lover, Esch offers many opportunities for participating in sports events while you are visiting. The Beach Open is a must not only because it is the biggest and more prestigious volleyball tournament of the country, but also because it is held in the pleasant surroundings of the vast Gaalgebierg Park.
The games are held on 5 pitches which are covered with about 1000 tons of sand brought in from the Belgian Riviera. On Saturday night cult DJs provide musical entertainment, and on Sunday it’s the turn of the eagerly awaited VIP match where celebrities from politics, sport and business face each other.
