People behind the Boxing Stories
Mir Boxen is a photography exhibition that brings to light the human stories behind the “noble art” of boxing. Featuring a powerful series of black-and-white photographs by Remo and Patrick Raffaelli—a Luxembourg-based father-and-son duo renowned for their long-standing documentation of sport, particularly boxing—alongside work by photographer and writer of Portuguese descent Paulo Lobo, the exhibition offers an intimate perspective on life in and around the ring.
Drawing on extensive archival research by documentary filmmaker Alain Tshinza, Mir Boxen traces fifty years of boxing (1975–2025) as practised by mining workers in the Minett region. By exploring this often unseen world, the exhibition celebrates ordinary people whose extraordinary dedication, discipline, and resilience unfold between the ropes.
The exhibition will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
