More about this activity

The history of this fine square goes back to the 19th century. It was the first public square built in front of the old Town Hall, which was inaugurated in 1863. The Town Hall as we know it today dates from 1937, and the square retained its original appearance until the early 1950s, when it was changed again in order to create a car park for the city centre. Then in 2005 an ambitious plan for the redevelopment and embellishment of the streets, squares and buildings of the city centre began. The newly renovated square was inaugurated on the 11 July 2008. Since then, it has regularly hosted events such as fairs, the Christmas market, music festivals, the National Day festivities, the weekly market, flea markets and community gatherings.
