In Esch, urban art is everywhere. The city is internationally recognised for its remarkable collection of murals, created by a wide range of artists over the past decade, with new works added regularly.
The story began in 2014, when Kulturfabrik—a cultural centre housed in the former municipal slaughterhouse—launched an open call to street artists from all over the world. The aim was to create murals that would enhance the urban environment while responding to sites of particular historical and cultural significance for the city. Today, the collection includes more than 70 murals, spread across Esch and neighbouring cities in France, Germany, and Belgium.
This engaging urban walk, which you can conduct at your own pace, focuses on Esch’s city centre and features 18 selected works. Along the route, you can discover the artists behind each piece and learn about the stories and contexts that inspired them.
