Screening– Soft Dissection

Expos & Museums
Konschthal Esch | 11:00 - 18:00

Soft Dissection is presented for the first time as part of Hisae Ikenaga’s solo exhibition Anatomies of Use (04.04 – 07.06.2026) at KIOSK.

.

Soft Dissection is a short fiction film - a collaboration between visual artist Hisae Ikenaga and filmmaker Paula Onet - created with non-professional performers. The film explores the layered memories of the former anatomical theatre at the KASK School of Arts in Ghent, a site historically situated at the intersection of medical education and artistic practice.

Within this setting, enigmatic ceramic objects resembling internal organs are produced, examined, and meticulously drawn. These acts function as a form of documentation, echoing historical methods of anatomical study and observation, and unfold within what appears to be a pedagogical environment. Through repetition, the gestures performed by the participants become ritualized, contributing to an atmosphere that is both quietly mysterious and resolutely ordinary.

The film was shot in the Cirque Auditorium of the KASK School of Arts, a space that mirrors KIOSK’s exhibition venue.
