Soil & Soul Sundays // Special Earth pain and Crossed Perspectives: Around Earthbound

Arts & Design, Expos & Museums, Nature, Other, Performing arts
Bridderhaus | 09:00 - 13:00

Join us every Sunday morning for a vibrant immersion into the world of the exhibition Earthbound. Worms, Soil, Decay. Stroll through our spaces, discover the exhibition at your own pace, and engage in a diverse program of activities designed for all ages: young and old, art enthusiasts, science curious, or ecology passionate.

Creative workshops, guided tours, cross-disciplinary perspectives, yoga sessions, vegetable markets, and flea markets... Each Sunday offers a new way to resonate with the themes of the exhibition: soils, decomposition, earthworms, and our connection to the underground world. A Sunday at Bridderhaus is an opportunity to wander, discover, and enjoy a moment of calm and sharing.

Experience the unique atmosphere of our inner courtyard when the weather permits. It's the perfect spot to relax, sip a coffee, savor a carrot cake, and enjoy a pleasant time with family or friends in a laid-back and friendly ambiance.

Open to all.

09:00 - 12:00 | Drop-in Family Workshop | Creative exploration of Soil

This workshop will explore the potential of soil as a painting and drawing medium. Using ancient sieving and grinding techniques we will be working with Scottish archived soils along with fresh local soils to create an earthy palette of colours to use as watercolour paints. You will come out of this workshop inspired to look around you for the colours of nature and with new skills to turn the everyday dirt under your feet into beautiful art. We will also be looking at the world of soil in a new way by looking through powerful lenses at tiny soil-dwelling creatures which make organic soil so nutrient rich and precious.

Offered by Natalie Taylor, led by the educational team of the Bridderhaus.

10:00 - 11:30: Crossed Perspectives: Around Earthbound. Worms, Soil, Decay with d-o-t-s and David Porco | FR

Join us for an extraordinary guided tour of the Earthbound exhibition at Bridderhaus — a meeting between artistic sensitivity and scientific expertise surrounding the underground world and its invisible yet essential inhabitants: earthworms.

This dual-voice tour, blending art and science, will address issues related to soils, underground biodiversity, and our collective responsibility for their preservation, in direct dialogue with the artworks… and with you.

Alongside d-o-t-s (Laura Drouet and Olivier Lacrouts), curators of the exhibition, you will meet David Porco, soil biologist and researcher at the Luxembourg National Museum of Natural History (MNHNL), who will provide captivating scientific insights. Specializing in chemical ecology and genetics, he will share his research on the diversity of earthworms in Luxembourg and beyond, as well as his knowledge about the place and role of these animals in ecosystems.

09:00–13:00 | Drinks and breakfast by MESA

Every Sunday morning, MESA offers coffee, tea, and carrot cake in a warm atmosphere — and, when the weather is nice, on the terrace of the Bridderhaus.
